ancient AYURVEDA
The healing system of Ayurveda is based on the principles of the five elements: Earth, Fire, Water, Air and Space, these exist both within our bodies and in the world around us.
These elements combine in our bodies to form one's constitution. These five elements are present in varying degrees and comprise three doshas (or energetic forces of nature or functional principles), that describes one's unique constitution (or Prakruti).
Ayurveda has tried and true remedies for maintaining a life of happiness and health and this ancient 'Science of Life' teaches us that we create our state of emotional, spiritual and physical health based upon how we interact with our environment.

The three doshas are known as Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Each dosha describes certain characteristics based on the elements they contain.
Vata represents the qualities of Air and Space, Pitta represents the qualities of Fire and Water and Kapha represents the qualities of Water and Earth.
We are all made up of varying amounts of each element and each person has a unique combination and proportional mix of all 3 doshas but one usually dominates.
Some people have more air, others more fire and others more earth, water and space/ether.
These elements govern how our body responds to certain foods and lifestyle choices. In Ayurveda, like increases like and opposites balance, so a person with lots of Pitta (or fire) will be more susceptible to illnesses of heat.
A person with more Kapha (or water) will be vulnerable in cold, damp, and humid conditions and a person dominated by Vata (or air) is shaken in the cooler, windier months.

The 5 Ayurvedic elements don't just exist in nature, they're also present in the foods we eat. Some foods are more heating, some more watery and some more crisp, light and airy, just like the doshas they represent

When your Prakruti becomes out of balance from eating the wrong kinds of food, movements, routines, or environments, then your health will suffer. This is known in Ayurveda as an imbalance and, no matter what your doshas are, Ayurveda will always treat and deal with any imbalances first.
Once you know which is your predominant dosha and how to keep it in balance, you can move forward with confidence, cook up a storm with the foods, herbs and spices that help to heal, rather than harm.
Some days will be easy, and others a challenge. but they will get easier and better. She can't wait to go on this journey with you and show you how to heal your body, and your life.
To find out which Dosha you are, you need a professional Ayurvedic consultation. This is an hour long appointment, where Anji sits with you and asks a series of questions and observes the body. From there, she discusses in detail about the qualities that make up your Prakruti, the combination of doshas within your body and begins to treat any imbalances you may have, through diet, lifestyle, massage, herbs and natural Ayurvedic medicines, this will restore the body to a place of wellness and calm.
